Without You: Rolling Stones #496 of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time (2021)

Without You By: Harry Nilsson Album:  Nilsson Scmilsson Released: November 9, 1970 Songwriters: Pete Ham, Tom Evans Pete Ham and Tom Evans of  Badfinger  wrote "Without You," and their band recorded it for the 1970 album,  No Dice . It wasn't released as a single.  Harry Nilsson covered the song for his 1971 album, Nilsson Schmilsson . His version reached Number 1 in the US and the UK.   Billboard ranked Nilsson's track the  Number 4 single  of 1972. It won him the 1973 Grammy  for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male. "Without You" was nominated for Record of the Year and Nilsson Schmilsson for Album of the Year. In 2021, this track was ranked 496 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

The Man Who Sold the World By: David Bowie Album: The Man Who Sold the World Released: November 4, 1970 Songwriter: David Bowie David Bowie shifted on his third album,  The Man Who Sold the World ,   from the " acoustic/folk rock " of 1969's  self-titled album  towards " hard rock/blues rock "...with dark lyrics. Guitarist  Mick Ronson  and drummer  Mick Woodmansey  made their first appearance on a Bowie record. They became Ziggy Stardust's backing band,  Spiders from Mars . In a 2013 readers' poll for Rolling Stone, The Man Who Sold the World was voted Bowie's tenth greatest album. Most critics consider this a transitional album. Get It On (Bang a Gong): One of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 500 Songs that Shaped Rock & Roll

Get It On Single: T. Rex Album: Electric Warrior Released: July 2, 1971 Genre: Glam rock, boogie rock Songwriter: Marc Bolan Front-man  Marc Bolan   wrote "Get It On" for the  1971  T. Rex   album Electric Warrior . In the US, it was retitled "Bang a Gong (Get It On)" to avoid confusion with " Get It On " by the group  Chase .   Peaking at number 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, i t's Rex's only major US hit. It  spent four weeks atop the  UK  music chart.  The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame counts "Get It On" as one of the  500 Songs that Shaped Rock & Roll.
