In 1987, it was the lead track from the Dead's studio album  In the Dark . Released as a single, it peaked on Billboard at number 9 .  Hit records weren't typical of the Dead. Their previous high-water mark had been in 1971 with " Truckin' ,"  which peaked at number 64.

Eventually, it became one of John's most popular. In 2010, Rolling Stone ranked the song number 397 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. It was ranked  47 on the 2021 list of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Maxine Feibelman I knew [the song] was about me. Maxine Feibelman Bernie Taupin at his wedding to Maxine Feibelman In a 1973 interview in Rolling Stone, Bernie Taupin said that the song is about Maxine Feibelman, his wife at the time. Exodus Album: Bob Marley & the Wailers Released: June 3, 1977 Genre: Reggae Producer: Bob Marley & the Wailers  Bob Marley & the Wailers '  ninth album, Exodus , was a critical and commercial success, peaking at number 20 on the Billboard 200 and reaching 8 in the UK. In 1999, Time magazine named Exodus the best album of the 20th century . It  numbered 26 of VH1's 100 Greatest Albums in 2001. In 2020, the album ranked 71 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Turning Japanese Single: The Vapors Album: New Clear Days Released: 1980 Genre: New wave, power pop Songwriter: David Fenton The Vapors  were an English new wave band between 1978 and 1981.  They are best remembered for their second single, "Turning Japanese." VH1 ranked The Vapors  number 36 of the 100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders. The opening riff for  "Turning Japanese" is  called " the oriental riff ." It was used for Carl Douglas ' " Kung Fu Fighting " and Siouxsie and the Banshees ' " Hong Kong Garden ."   It was rumored the title referred to the facial features of Asian people masturbating at the moment of climax.

AC/DC: Two of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock & Roll

AC/DC Origin: Sydney, Australia Genres: hard rock, blues rock,  rock and roll, heavy metal Bon Scott formed AC/DC with brothers Malcolm and Angus Young in 1973. Angus was only 18, and his sister suggested he wear his school uniform on stage. The look became the band's visual trademark. The group's lyrics are about drinking, sex, and rock. In 1976, Rolling Stone wrote about the band's first release:  " Hard Rock has unquestionably hit its all-time low ."  VH1's list of 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock ranked AC/DC number 4. MTV's Greatest Heavy Metal Band of All Time counted them at 7. VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time in 2010 numbered the band 23. In 2003, Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list included Back in Black at number 73 and Highway to Hell at number 199. The title tracks of both records are among the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs That Shaped Rock .

His showmanship influenced other rock guitarists, particularly his one-legged hop routine. Three of his hits - "Maybelline," "Rock and Roll Music," and "Johnny B. Goode" -  are on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's list of  500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll .

Pitchfork rated it the 5th best album of the 1960s. Robert Dimery included the record in 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. Patsy Cline Born: Virginia Patterson Hensley September 8, 1932 Winchester, Virginia, US Died: March 5, 1963 Camden, Tennessee, US Cause of death: Plane crash Genres: Country, Nashville sound, honky-tonk, rockabilly, traditional pop, gospel Instrument: Vocals Patsy Cline , a prominent figure in country music, was one of the first to achieve pop stardom. Her reign as queen of country music ended when the small plane carrying her, manager Randy Hughes, and band members Hawkshaw Hawkins & Cowboy Copas crashed due to bad weather. In 1973, Cline became the first female solo artist inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Her legacy was further cemented when she was featured in the United States "Legends" series of postal stamps in 1993.

Cabaret Directed: Bob Fosse Based on: Cabaret (1966 musical) Starring: Liza Minnelli, Michael York, Helmut Griem Marisa Berenson, Fritz Wepper, Joel Grey Cinematography: Geoffrey Unsworth Released: February 13, 1972 The 1972 musical film, Cabaret , starring Liza Minnelli , was directed by Bob Fosse . The role gave Minnelli, the daughter of Judy Garland , her first chance to sing on screen. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress.  Joel Grey won the Best Supporting Actor prize.  The Best Director went to Bob Fosse. The picture won Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Sound, Best Original Song Score and Adaptation, and Best Film Editing. It holds the record for most Oscars earned by a film not honored for Best Picture. The soundtrack album went gold, outselling the original Broadway cast album .

The song peaked on the UK Singles Chart at Number 2   and reached the Top 40 in the United States.  It was voted the Favorite Song at the 2001 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, and Baha Men was the favorite band the following year.
